Plenty of games these days get HD remakes, like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus which got ported from the PS2 to the PS3, or the catastrophic failure that was the Silent Hill Collection. But China doesn’t think this is enough, with a writer at QQ Games stating:
All they really do is clear up the picture. The general appearance is the same as the original, the mechanics are about the same with no improvements—I think the majority of players are unsatisfied. I think the absolute majority of players feel the way I do: we want such-and-such a game on a new engine, with modern graphics, more streamlined mechanics– that would be the best!
QQ then goes on to list 20 classic video games that, if ever they were to be adequately remade, would garner their companies huge amounts of respect and gratification.
Here are China’s top 20 classic games that deserve to be upgraded.

Mount and Blade has a lot of versions, but the graphics aren’t that great. Imagine if Mount and Blade had the graphics of Skyrim, where you can take cities and seize territories, clashing your armies on a boundless plain… that would be more refreshing! However, if this were to happen, Mount and Blade would likely become a hardware killer.
No. 4: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (2007)
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PSP is the only Final Fantasy action RPG. In the game you get the familiar faces of Tifa, Aerith, Cloud, Zach, and Sephiroth in their classical roles. If Crisis Core could be remade on the PSV, PS3, or PS4, the overall look would be exceptionally better. If it could be on the PS4, I bet the graphics would be close enough to the CG film, “Advent Children”!
No. 3: Shadow of the Colossus (2005)
Another emotionally stirring PS2 game, Shadow of the Colossus is perfect– from the plot, setting, music, to mechanics. If it could be remade, it would be more stunning than God of War. After all, the struggle of the mortal man is really emotional.
No. 2: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)
Of the GTA franchise, San Andreas is the most interesting. Just the main story alone is probably worth 100 hours of gameplay, and with the various modes of transportation and different weapons, you really can’t get tired of playing. The only downside is that the graphics haven’t aged well– even using the ENB mod doesn’t do too much. If you could give San Andreas GTA4’s graphics, it would definitely be more interesting than GTA4.
No. 1: Homeworld 2 (2003)
The #1 spot is reserved for this unrivaled game. Homeworld is considered to be a very creative RTS, and it’s a shame it has no more installments. Right now, space battle science fiction games are either Mass Effect (SRPG) or Halo (FPS), but they don’t live up to how amazing a RTS game this is.

Interesting list. I think Grand Theft Auto wold be on a top list anywhere around the world. I haven't heard of some of these other video games but the recommendations will make them ones to look out for. Thanks for sharing.
